Fi16 high performance monitor

Description

Fi16 started as an R&D platform to explore the capabilities of Purifi Audio’s USHINDI – Ultra Low Distortion Transducer Technology loudspeaker drivers. That initial prototype immediately made apparent Purifi had delivered a major leap forward in transducer capabilities that must be shared. Two years further R&D exploring how such low distortion and powerful drivers best interface with tweeters and enclosures into high performance loudspeakers resulted in the Fi16.

The heart of Fi16 is the Purifi PTT6.5W paper cone woofer. Purifi’s USHINDI is a suite of driver advancements delivering ultra-low THD, IMD, Constant Force Factor vs. Voice Coil Position, Bl(x); Constant Inductance vs. Voice Coil Position, Lgen(x); Ultra Low Current Distortion vs. Current Amplitude, and resulting low Magnetic Hysteresis Distortion (MRD). The net effect of the multiple advances is for the first time it is possible for small-cone extended-stroke drivers in moderate sized enclosures to outperform large-cone short-stroke drivers in their required outsized enclosures. This allows Fi16’s decor friendly 16 liter enclosure to deliver solid 30 Hz bass with impact and transparency. Bass is the Fi16’s ‘party trick’ but the real long-term satisfaction comes from the state-of-the-art resetting low distortion throughout the audible range. During the development process for Fi16 it was discovered the PTT6.5W’s offer such low distortion and powerful motors the enclosure, tweeter, and crossover all needed to be developed beyond typical standards. Accordingly, extra thick baffles, constrained layer limp mass damping, and internal anti-resonance structures have been incorporated. The silk (or optional beryllium) dome tweeter is crossed over using a Danny Richie designed crossover using all polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors.

ACG 70 series high performance monitors

Description

ACG’s 70 Series is a platform accommodating a variety of the latest high-tech drivers in the popular stand mounted mini-monitor format. Experience shows drivers at the present state-of-the-art are held back by typical simple MDF enclosures and cost constrained crossovers. Series 70 addresses that by using higher grade cabinet plywood, constrained layer and limp mass damping techniques. Insuring driver integration is Danny Richie designed crossovers using all polypropylene capacitors and air core inductors. Each pair is built to order allowing extensive options in drivers and crossover components for an exact match to the client’s use case and budget. For those into advanced DIY the Series 70 designs are available as kits including flat pack enclosures ready to glue and finish.

Initial Series 70 monitors use SB Acoustics Satori ® series drivers. Woofers are 5” class drivers options including TeXtreme carbon fiber or Egyptian Papyrus cone material. Tweeters options include domes in Beryllium, or TeXtreme carbon fiber, or two grades of silk. Baffle upgrade option uses precision machined Panzerholz. Panzerholz is bonded beech hardwood veneers using phenolic resin densified by subjecting the panels to high pressure during the manufacturing process. Prototypes comparing plywood to Panzerholz baffles dispelled skeptics’ questions as every aspect of music reproduction improved with the superior mechanical properties of Panzerholz baffles.
